Eilon Caspi, Ph.D.
Assistant Research Professor, Institute for Collaboration on Health, Intervention, and Policy, University of Connecticut
Eilon Caspi BSW, MA, PhD is a Gerontologist and Dementia Behavior Specialist. He is the founder and director of Dementia Behavior Consulting LLC and an adjunct faculty at the School of Nursing, University of Minnesota. He worked in the aging field his entire adult life; starting as a nurse aide in a nursing home where his grandfather lived in 1994. Since then he worked as a social worker in a nursing home as well as an educator, applied researcher, consultant, author, and elder human rights advocate.

Over the years he conducted several studies on various forms of elder mistreatment in long-term care homes such as injurious and deadly neglect, abuse, fatal resident-to-resident incidents, self-neglect, fear of retaliation, financial exploitation, and thefts of opioid pain medications. Beyond elder mistreatment, his specialty is the prevention of various forms of distressing and harmful behavioral expressions among people living with dementia in long-term care homes. The ultimate goal of his work and applied research is to enable vulnerable and frail elders to realize their human right to live with dignity in safe care environments.
