Joanna Cohen, BSW, M.Ed.

Joanna Cohen is a BSW Social Worker, Master of Education, whose mission is to ensure that social workers understand the emotional gravity of the work we do, and how to build resilience so that we can continue to carry out the very important mission of improving the lives of others.
She is currently a field supervisor for Arizona State University Child Welfare Education Program, which prepares BSW and MSW students for field work with the Department of Child Safety. She is a regional lead for the Workforce Resilience Team, implemented in 2018 to provide peer support to child protection workers and staff. She has also served as a DCS case manager for families and young adults, a child abuse hotline intake specialist, an advocate for General Assistance clients applying for SSI benefits, and an Adult Protective Services social worker in rural northern California. Her baby boomer parents recently retired and moved to Arizona, and she also has one daughter in college, one daughter in high school, and a stepson in high school. She is currently obtaining her MSW at Arizona State University. In her rare spare time, she enjoys meeting people in her community through estate sales and buying and selling antique clocks.
