Wendy Johnson
Justa Center
Wendy joined Justa Center in June of 2018, returning to “home” in Phoenix after a long career on two coasts with frequent journeys in emerging nations. The majority of her career has been dedicated to providing support, services, and resources for those who are at-risk, underrepresented, or in life-affecting circumstances. With a passion to provide opportunities to break the cycle of poverty, she looks for ways to make a measurable, sustainable difference.

Justa Center is the only agency exclusively dedicated to providing life-sustaining resources, services, and support to assist homeless seniors on their path to housing and supportive services to help prevent a return to homelessness. Since 2006, Justa Center has served over 5,800 seniors – 24% are Veterans; 27% are women. The path to housing is more than a return to independent living. Many transitions from homelessness to assisted living, hospice or other treatment centers. Over 1,600 have returned to hosing and approximately 75% of the seniors placed retain housing. Sadly, the ever-increasing rents and lack of low-to-median cost apartments has contributed to an increase of those returning to homelessness. In 2019, the largest growing group of first-time homeless are women age 70 and older.
